Description

Each year in Britain we produce 30 million tons of domestic waste which includes 4.6 million tonnes of waste packaging from food products alone.

This Environmental Studies Factsheet:
• Summarises the UK’s record on recycling, re-use and composting waste.
• Discusses why it is so difficult to dispose of our waste in an environmentally acceptable way.
• Uses a Life Cycle Assessment to compare the environmental impacts of 3 ways of dealing with waste paper: recycling, incinerating or using it to produce bioethanol.
