395. Making Sense of the IPCC Special Report: Impact, Adaptation and Required Mitigation at 1.5°C Warming

Description

The Factsheet is accompanied by a PowerPoint which builds on the ideas covered in this Factsheet.

This Geo Factsheet explores the implications of the most recent most recent IPCC report in September 2018 which sets the bar far higher than the Paris conference and subsequent follow up at Katowice.

The emphasis in this report is on a global target of a maximum of 1.5 degree increase above pre-industrial levels for 2030. It spells out the consequences for both people, the environment and the need for the radical actions that will be required to achieve this target. Both mitigation and adaption are discussed.
