228. Education in Prison

Description

This Sociology Factsheet will look at education in prison, exploring the extent and outcomes with examples, case studies, theoretical perspectives and research. The Factsheet includes Exam Hints to help you to use your knowledge to gain maximum marks, while the Activities give you the opportunity to apply what you have learned and will help you develop your skills in this area.

The examiner will expect you to be able to:

  • Demonstrate your understanding of the way education is set up and carried out in both society and prisons.
  • Demonstrate your understanding of potential outcomes of education within prisons.
  • Critically evaluate different research, theoretical perspectives and statistics on this topic.
  • Be confident in incorporating contemporary examples, illustration and case studies in an exam response.
