Description

This Geo Factsheet aims to examine aspects of Changing Places by looking at the actions of socially responsible companies upon local communities and environments. As part of this, there will be an analysis of a particular environment, its natural ecosystem, and the effects of human use. The topic will give an overview of the key areas of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), analyse in detail one case study of a scheme in the area by a multinational company and evaluate its success, compare that scheme with other localised examples of ecosystem management, and describe the physical background, mainly of the ecosystem, in a contrasting place – Udaipur (Rajasthan, northwest India) (see Geo Factsheet 393. Changing Places: Rural and Urban India with Specific Reference to Rajasthan) and assess the main threats to that ecosystem and its biodiversity.
