Description

Aquaculture has rocketed over the last 60 years and looks set to continue. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) estimates that aquaculture now produces almost 50% of the world’s food fish.

However, the World-Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), and many other environmental organizations remain worried about its harmful environmental impacts and some claim that the entire industry is unnecessary. It is very unlikely that aquaculture will cease to be, so more effort is being directed towards reducing the environmental impacts. This Factsheet Environmental Studies reviews recent developments.

This Factsheet includes practice exam questions.
