This Article defines nature-centred and human-centred human-environment relationship. The article provides a number of examples of societies with a nature-centred human-environment relationship (i.e. nonhuman life having an intrinsic value equal to that of humans) and how is this manifested in how they manage their environment and resources. It gives examples of societies with a human centred human-environment relationship (i.e. non-human life having instrument value in the creation of material goods).
