This Sociology Factsheet will look at the growth of veganism, exploring the framework and reasons for the growth and possible cultural implications, case studies and research. The Factsheet includes Exam Hints to help you to use your knowledge to gain maximum marks, while the Activities give you the opportunity to apply what you have learned and will help you develop your skills in this area.

The examiner will expect you to be able to use contemporary examples, such as the growth of veganism when:

Demonstrating your understanding of culture and identity within contemporary society.
Demonstrating your understanding of the socialisation process and the role of agencies of socialisation in the development of identity.
Demonstrating your understanding of the relationship between production, consumption and globalisation.
Critically evaluating differing research and facts on this topic.
Incorporating contemporary examples and case studies in an exam response.
