285. Cognitive Explanations of Gender Development

Description

This Psychology Factsheet is about theories of gender development from a cognitive perspective. The Factsheet includes Exam Hints, and the worksheet gives you the opportunity to apply what you have learned to exam-style questions. Words in bold are explained in the glossary and there is a reference list at the end.

The examiner will expect you to be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of cognitive psychology.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of gender development.
  • Outline and evaluate cognitive explanations of gender development.
  • Outline and evaluate gender schema theory.
  • Apply theories to real life scenarios.
  • Use accurate terminology, such as gender identity, gender labelling, gender stability, gender consistency and gender schema.
