Description

Imagine that a nuclear power station has just been built 1 mile from your house. You live on the coast and you love eating seafood like oysters and whelks. The Environment Agency (assuming you live in England) will want to know if you are receiving any additional radiation in your seafood as result of the power station. If you aren’t, then it’s pretty likely that no-one else is. That makes you part of what is known as the Critical Group.

This Environmental Studies Factsheet explains:
• British nuclear fuel site locations.
• Sources of radiation.
• Monitoring radiation.
• Inhalation pathway.
