Being synoptic means being able to tie things together, to link different ideas and to summarise them. Throughout the A level course you will have looked at different topics, often in isolation e.g. the family, education, religion. However, the final examination paper at A2 requires students to show how the whole six modules over the two years (at AS and A2 level) link together. It is therefore very important that you think about this as soon as you start the course at AS level – not just at the end of the course.
