278. Narcissistic Personality Disorder

Description

This Psychology Factsheet provides an overview and critique of narcissistic personality disorder (NPD). The Factsheet includes Exam Hints, and the worksheet gives you the opportunity to apply what you have learned to exam-style questions. Words in bold are explained in the glossary and there is a reference list at the end for further reading.

The examiner will expect you to be able to:

  • Demonstrate that you understand the personality traits and behaviours specific to NPD.
  • Demonstrate that you understand why NPD may be problematic for both the sufferer and those around them.
  • Describe relevant explanations of the causes of NPD and associated research.
  • Evaluate the explanations of the causes of NPD and associated research, considering the strengths and limitations .
  • Describe and evaluate treatments for NPD.
