332. Molecular Machines

Description

To succeed in this topic, you need to:

  • Be familiar with the term nanoparticles and some simple applications of nanoparticles.
  • Be familiar with the use of graphs in chemistry investigations, for example: reactions rates, energetics and acid-base titrations.
  • Be familiar with assessed components of practical-based investigations and examination questions.

After working through this Chemistry Factsheet, you will:

  • Be able to describe the use of nanoparticles and nanomaterials in terms of their structure and general applications.
  • Be able to describe examples of biological molecular machines in terms of their structure and medical applications.
  • Be able to describe the development of artificial molecular machines for application in living organisms, including examples of physical tasks completed on the molecular level.
  • Be able to describe how molecular machines respond to certain stimuli to complete designed actions.
