Description

This Factsheet uses soils to illustrate why students need to practice data interpretation, and particularly the interpretation of data in tables and graphs. Having completed the A-level in Environmental Science, you should be better at critically interpreting data than, say, a student who has just studied Biology. Data on the environment is everywhere – on the internet, the television, in newspapers, popular journals, youth magazines. Much of it is poorly presented, inaccurate or biased. You need to be able to identify these problems quickly. You also need to be able to interpret accurate data quickly.

This Environmental Studies Factsheet explains:
• Soil texture.
• Effects of soil pH on nutrient availability.
• Soil erosion.
