6. Landscapes in the Arid Tropics

Description

What are the processes that lead to the formation of fluvial and Aeolian landscapes?

This Article defines the arid tropics, fluvial landscapes, aeolian landscapes, and the various fluvial and aeolian processes that take place in the arid tropics. This article answers why such fluvial and Aeolian processes take place in the arid topics. It describes the various landforms created in the arid tropics as a result of fluvial and aeolian processes (i.e. on yardangs, dunes, loess, rills and gullies, etc.) and their characteristics. It explores to what extent the landscapes found in the arid tropics can be also found in the non-arid tropics.
