311. Coping with Carbon

Description

To succeed in this topic, you need to:
Be familiar with the properties and behaviours of carbon and carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas and the impacts of climate change.
Be familiar with the basic chemical change involving acids, oxidation and reductions, combustion.
Be familiar with reversible reactions and chemical equilibrium.

After working through this Chemistry Factsheet, you will:
Be aware of the carbon cycle and the conversion of carbon between different carbon reservoirs via chemical processes.
Be aware of anthropological processes leading to an increase of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and the related impacts on climate change and pollution.
Be aware of developments in coping with carbon through carbon capture and carbon storage.
