254. Characteristics of Addictive Behaviour

Description

This Psychology Factsheet will provide an overview of the characteristics of addictive behaviour. Words in bold are defined in the glossary and the worksheet allows the opportunity to practice what you have learned. There is a reference list at the end.

The examiner will expect you to be able to:

  1. Describe the main characteristics of addictive behaviour.
  2. Know and explain the different types of addiction.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of diagnostic tools such as DSM-5 and ICD-10.
  4. Explain an alternative method of characterising addiction.
